Learning Spaces Workshop—Mason’s New Exploratory Hall Learning Spaces
Friday the 13th was a lucky day for the 73 attendees of this one-day meeting held in George Mason University’s Exploratory Hall. The Active Learning with Technology (ALT) classroom was the both the venue and the symposium case study, which delved into the synergistic relationship between the classroom environment, teaching methodologies and student learning and engagement.
The agenda was fulfilled by a variety of presenters from GMU and other institutions, organizations and consultants. Topics covered were current and future trends in considering learning spaces; a cost case study from Virginia Commonwealth University; space assessment at GMU; building tours; and last but not least, a “learning space design challenge” that was tackled by nine different teams.
