Atlantic Plumbing Residential at 2112 8th Street NW
MCLA worked with the Architect-of-Record, Eric Colbert & Associates, and Design Architect, Morris Adjmi Architects, on this 310-unit rental building featuring a cantilevered glass and aluminum box framed in a Corten steel truss. The lighting design scope included its resident amenities (fitness center, club rooms, rooftop pool with cabana and community garden, and landscaped terraces), building exoskeleton and facade elements, residential lobby, leasing center, residential units, and common corridors. The main lobby incorporates salvaged signage, bricks, and steel from the derelict building that once occupied the site have been incorporated, reflecting the history of the V Street NW corridor.
The architectural design of this building and its neighboring AP 2030 were inspired by the photography of Bernd and Hilla Becher. Both projects were completed in 2016. MCLA is also working on the Atlantic Plumbing Parcel C Residential project, which will be completed in 2018.
