Congratulations to Studios Architecture on winning the 2016 American Institute of Architects Honor Award for Interior Architecture on the Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies.
This building, a former windowless television studio with two subterranean levels that had no view out and no daylight coming in. The space was in a busy section of the downtown area that would allow convenient connections for students, faculty and other users.
The architects transformed this space into a bright new four-story atrium which includes a series of hanging staircases and an open feel for the free flow and spontaneous interactions that a more traditional grassy campus yields.
